A PLACE CALLED HOME is a dance production by Hamburg-based choreographer Monique Smith-McDowell, which artistically explores the concept of “home” and its political, social, and emotional facets. The team, consisting of five performers and an audio describer who all share experiences of migration, delve into their own migrant perspectives in A PLACE CALLED HOME: exploring the losses, longings, joy and freedom wrapped in the meaning of “home”. The performers’ personal archives of knowledge flow into the artistic process, which intertwines music, artistic audio description and choreography. In this way, A PLACE CALLED HOME dives deeply – through dance – into an emotional, physical, and multifaceted world.
A touch tour for visually impaired and blind people is offered 45 minutes before the show.
