Is it possible to perform a truly magical act in an old industrial building? ÉSKATON explores this question using various theatrical devices and performative strategies, drawing inspiration from a 1922 film of the same name that combines witch hunts with early psychological interpretations.
At the center is a figure, a marginal figure whose behavior oscillates between despair, tenderness, and resistance. Through her actions, mythologies and narratives of witchcraft enter into dialogue with contemporary stage art. In the process, demonized knowledge and practices are invoked, the aesthetic power of the monstrous is emphasized, and the vulnerability of dissident bodies is made visible—with the aim of questioning the historical structure of the theater as a place and a practice.
