F-Pavillon
We were able to secure an empty space in the former car dealership at Rentzelstraße 36-40 as the festival center. This space and the adjacent area are being used as a rehearsal stage for the LICHTHOF Theater and are awaiting their permanent transformation into a new venue for the independent arts scene in the city. This phase of interim use presents a valuable opportunity to initiate an ongoing dialogue between the actors of the independent arts scene, the city’s community, and, above all, the neighborhood. With a space like the rehearsal stage and future venue of the LICHTHOF Theater, a temporary performative laboratory can be established in the spirit of a Third Place. Interim spaces and their temporary use enable the development of free and fluid formats. At the same time, the future transformation presents an opportunity to discuss the sustainable, solidarity-based, and collaborative use of structures and, hopefully, to carry these concepts forward into the future.
We place particular emphasis on creating an accessible, barrier-free space and continuously reflecting on its use and impact at the community, urban, and institutional levels.
Implementation: Design Collective Polycabonara (Renovation) with support from carpenter Kira Bergmann
