the snare drum project is a multisensory environment that reimagines the role of the drum set. Drawing on its own history—the snare drum was Mikołaj Rytowski’s first instrument—the project explores the relationship between sound, space, and audience. By combining music, light, and spatial arrangement, an immersive environment is created in which percussion is not only audible but can also be physically experienced. Each performance further develops the project and adapts it to new spatial and social contexts.
“The Snare Drum Project” is a sound performance.
The focus is on the drum set.
It is reimagined.
And experienced in a new way.

The project was created by Mikołaj Rytowski.
The snare drum was his first instrument.
The piece builds on that foundation.
And develops new ideas.

It’s about sound and space.
And about the audience.
All three belong together.
And influence one another.

Music, light, and space are connected.
This creates a special atmosphere.
It’s called immersive.
That means:
You’re right in the middle of the action.

The sound isn’t just audible.
You can also feel it.
Throughout your whole body.

Every performance is different.
The project changes.
Depending on the location and situation.
And with the audience.
