Locked down during the pandemic, Malicho Vaca Valenzuela assembles a collage of collective memories—a personal archival experiment that becomes a theatrical object. Through digital platforms, he delves into his own biography and the history of his city, Santiago de Chile—exploring both the recent past and the deep wounds of social uprisings and past dictatorships. An experience that focuses on concrete locations and reveals an emotional topography.
A motionless journey to the narrow passageway where three generations of his family lived.

A sensitive, political, and intimate biographical documentary essay: What becomes of our traces when we are no longer here? Will anything of us remain in the streets of our cities? Can memory be mapped?
During the pandemic,
Malicho Vaca Valenzuela is isolated at home.
He collects memories.
From these, a play emerges.

He uses digital platforms.
He reflects on his life.
And on his city, Santiago de Chile.
He also reflects on difficult times.

For example, on protests
and past dictatorships.
These experiences leave their mark.
On the city and on people.

The play depicts specific places.
And the feelings associated with them.
This is also called
an emotional map.

It is like a journey without movement.
It leads to a family home.
Three generations lived there.

The play is personal and political.
It asks important questions:
What remains of us?
When we are no longer here?

Do traces remain in the streets?
Can memories be captured?
Or even shown like a map?
