ERUPTIVA EXTRAVAGANZA is a drag persona of the catastrophic, embodied by Nolundi Tschudi. In a volcanological cycle of transformation, pent-up forces and sparks-flying ecstasy unfold—a collective eruption scenario that leads into emptiness or begins anew there.

The volcano becomes an archaic subject that mirrors human dynamics and social tensions. As different as a dormant colossus and human activity may seem, their potential for escalation is strikingly similar. In a time marked by crises, the question arises regarding the energy of breakthrough.

Together with the audience, the performance evokes the moment of unloading and searches for hidden, archaic forces and grand emotions, tamed in secret.

ERUPTIVA EXTRAVAGANZA is a character.
It is a drag persona.
She is played by Nolundi Tschudi.
The character is like a volcano.

It’s about intense emotions.
And pent-up energy.
This energy suddenly erupts.
Like a volcanic eruption.

The volcano represents people.
And conflicts in society.
People can escalate, too.
That is, react very strongly all of a sudden.

The piece asks:
What happens before an eruption?
Where does this power come from?
And what happens afterward?

We live in a time of many crises.
Many feelings are hidden.
They are there,
but are often suppressed.

This becomes visible in the performance.
Together with the audience.
It’s about intense emotions.
And a moment of release.

Afterward, emptiness may arise.
Or a new beginning.
