“Come Out of the Trench” is a performance by Andrii Romanenko in collaboration with Masha and Legions. Against the backdrop of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the artists explore distance and the experience of a body in exile: they expand the body into a performative landscape, multiplying and distorting it through sound, movement, and projections. In the process, the audience also experiences the creative process—an often-overlooked space in which something deeply human unfolds.

They reflect on people who are forced to live abroad.

They show how the body changes when living in exile.

A refugee is someone who has been forced to leave their home.

The artists create many physical images using music, dance, and light.

The audience also experiences how everything comes together.

In this space, the artists reveal something very human.
