“A Peculiar State” is an immersive multimedia concert performance in which the audience encounters a knight in a post-digital forest clearing who ponders the strange reality of our time. The audience takes a seat on the stage by the knight’s virtual campfire. From there, a hybrid, half-virtual, half-real world unfolds, transforming from a digital fairytale forest into a post-digital wasteland reminiscent of simulated world after the climate catastrophe. With a unique combination of harpsichord, light and video, the melancholy of modern times is combined with the forlornness of the post-internet age, inviting us into a hybrid world. Together with the audience, “A Peculiar State” embarks on a search for the question of why everything feels so strange in our fragmented, post-digital reality.
Peculiar State – concert and fantasy journey

A Peculiar State is a special concert performance.
The audience sits on stage by a virtual campfire.
There they meet a knight who reflects on our world.
He asks: Why does everything feel so strange?

The stage looks like a fairytale forest from a computer.
But this forest is slowly turning into a destroyed world – as if
as if after a climate crisis.

During the performance there is music from a harpsichord.
This is an old musical instrument with keys.
There is also light, a video and digital effects.
This creates a world that is half real and half virtual.

The performance shows us:
– Our reality is fragmented into many parts.
– The internet changes how we feel and think.
– Music, light and images create a sad mood.

A Peculiar State is a journey with the audience.
Together we ask ourselves:
What is happening to our world right now?
