“The Fruits of our Trees” creates a space full of potential for intimacy. Audiences enter this space, which resembles another universe: time seems to move differently, and one’s own body may initially feel unfamiliar—yet also safe—because this space belongs to those who created it.
Together with her performers, Sahra Abbassi explores intimacy and its potential within self-determined spaces created by BIPoC FLINTA individuals. How are stories shared? How do we listen to each other, hold one another, sing and dance together—and how does the performer stay grounded within themselves throughout?
Forms of expression from contemporary dance and ballroom culture come together to create an intimate atmosphere between the performers and with the audience.
The Fruits of our Trees – A space for closeness

The Fruits of our Trees is a dance performance about closeness and belonging.

The audience enters a special space.
Time feels different there.
Your own body is strange at first – and yet safe.
Because this space belongs to the people who created it.

Sahra Abbassi and her performers ask:
What does it mean to be close to someone –
especially for people with different skin colors or origins?
How do we tell each other stories?
How do we listen?
How do we dance, sing and hold each other – and yet remain ourselves?

The performance combines contemporary dance with ballroom culture.
This creates closeness – between the performers and the audience.
